CALLING ALL CYM ALUMNI
Take part in CYM@50 gala celebration on 10 June 2020 at the Barbican.
In 2020 CYM London will turn 50 and in 2021 the LSSO will turn 70. To celebrate an incredible combined 120 years of youth music making we are launching our new appeal Young at Heart, to raise £1 million for over 1000 disadvantaged young Londoners to play music over the next decade.
SAVE THE DATE
As part of our Young at Heart appeal, we will be celebrating CYM’S 50th Birthday on 10 June 2020 at the Barbican. If you’d like to be part of our celebrations then please complete the form below.
The day will begin at Milton Court Concert Hall where local school children will be invited to attend workshops and masterclasses led by CYM tutors and alumni, followed by an evening concert at the Barbican, headlined by the CYM Anniversary Orchestra and Choir – a specially created ensemble to mark the anniversary of the organisation – featuring alumni players and conductors alongside current CYM students.
We are delighted that the CYM anniversary orchestra will perform a work by CYM alumnus Jonathan Dove. Christopher Warren-Green will be conducting.
During 2021, the LSSO’s celebrations to mark the organisation’s 70th will include commissions by Michael Zev Gordon, Joshua Borin and Eleanor Alberga.
SHARE YOUR CYM STORY
We’d love to hear about your experience at CYM – whether you are still playing an instrument, if you continued your studies in music, or equally if you are now doing something completely different. Please help us with our planning for our celebrations, by completing the form below!
We are gearing up to mark 50 years of achievements at CYM and would like past students to get in touch to help us celebrate. We’re keen to hear from anyone who attended CYM, or played in the LSSO, and who would like to offer support to today’s students.
