CYM FYM logo

The Foundation for Young Musicians (FYM) is a charity established in 1990 with the sole aim to raise funds for CYM London, so that CYM can continue to offer talented London school children first-class musical training and education irrespective of ability to pay. Half of CYM’s students would not be able to benefit from this tuition without financial assistance.

CYM London provides ordinary young people with real opportunities to improve their musical skills through high quality progression routes. Through this we see how music not only allows students to express themselves artistically but also helps them develop social, cognitive and creative skills that are of value throughout their lives, whatever profession they choose to pursue.

CYM’s students are drawn mainly from inner-city schools in the state sector, with more than 50% coming from minority communities, creating an ethnic and social mix that reflects the true diversity of London. There is a 47% to 53% male to female ratio, which is unique amongst comparable settings.

To enable these young people to attend CYM, FYM raises the money by fundraising. We rely on generous donations from individuals and businesses.

See below some great reviews of the LSSO from the Evening Standard, Telegraph and Classical Source.
